March 3rd, 2020: Names and Tables
Hi everyone! Glad to see that there’s been a bit of excitement for the game. This last week has been an eventful one for me, but I’ve managed to put some time into developing the game.
The major addition for this week is more directly tied to the fiction of the game and the universe that it occupies. Specifically, it’s tied to what I’ve often heard is the hardest part of character creation, regardless of what you’re playing: names!
An Agent’s name is now divided into two explicit parts, a public-facing name pared with the Agent’s current <disguise/human identity>, and a callsign used internally within the Bureau, which is consistent between missions. The former is generally something that sounds like it could be a regular human name, or close to one at least. The latter is often a single word or short phrase that is usually rather evocative and powerful.
To accompany this new addition, a table has been added to the very end for quickly generating Agents. It has a short list of sample names and callsigns to get your inspiration going.
Feel free to let me know what you think, either in the comments here or on Twitter. Either way, have fun, and stay vigilant!
